Student Accounts

Please note that Student Charge Accounts are different from Web Accounts and no information is shared between the two accounts. The former allows you to charge items to the bookstore account both for in-store purchases and web purchases and you will be billed at the end of each month. The latter is necessary for our e-commerce provider to process your web transactions regardless of your payment method. Thus, if you want to use your Student Charge Account to pay for web purchases, you need to fill out this form as well as set up your web account when you check out for the first time.

The following terms and conditions apply to your account with the Reed College Bookstore. Your submission of this form implies agreement to our terms and conditions, so please read the following information with care.

A one-time $20.00 set-up fee is required to open a Bookstore account. No up-front cash or check is needed as this fee will be charged directly to the student account and will appear on your first monthly statement.

The account can function either as a debit account (if you chose to make an initial deposit) or as a regular credit account. If there is a credit balance at the end of an academic year, a refund can be issued. The student's Reed ID card will be encoded with his/her account information, and the student will be required to present the card to the cashier when charging purchases.

Statements are issued at the end of each month. Payment is due within thirty days. If you want to use a credit card (Visa or MasterCard, only) to pay off your balance, we will need to add a 3% surcharge to offset the commission we are assessed by the credit card processor. Please be aware that the Bookstore and College statements look very similar. Bookstore payments should be addressed to the Reed College Bookstore. Statements show open items for the current month only. Previous unpaid items are reflected in a balance forward. Copies of the itemized cash register receipt go to the individual at the time of sale; duplicates will not be included with the statement. If a parent would like to see what items were bought, we encourage the student to send copies of their receipts to the parent (students are required to have their receipts for returns or exchanges).

Charge account privileges may be suspended and/or permanently revoked at the discretion of the Accounting Supervisor on accounts that are past due. Accounts which become 60 days past due will be closed until they are brought current. Accounts which reach 90 days past due will be permanently closed and the account balance will be transferred to the student's tuition account.

In order to sign up for a student account, please fill out and submit the form below.
